Hair Sticks – Cool accessories for your style.

Hair Sticks seem to be a traditional Asian method for holding hair out of the way. Probably stemming from the use of chopsticks… Anyway, hair sticks are now more of an accessory than anything else. Even though they don’t seem to be a super ‘in’ thing at the moment there are many occasions where hair sticks would be the perfect touch. Weddings, prom and other very formal events usually bring out most of the hair sticks we see, but why not look glamorous every day!
Check out some of these great hairsticks I found online:
The Garnet and Sterling Silver hair stick above is one of the nicest looking sticks I have seen anywhere! The hammered sterling silver is just so rich and textured and is in perfect contrast with the deep red garnet stone accents. Simply beautiful!
Another beautiful example of hand-crafted silver hair sticks. Although the rose is nice, I think I prefer the daisy. It just seems like it would go flow much better.. maybe it’s just my imagination.
These aren’t my my personal style, but I could see how they could look great at a black tie event or a night out on the town wearing that new little black dress.
I remember a girl sitting in front of me in high school used to use a pencil every day to put her hair up, after flipping me in the face with it(I think she liked me, and wanted attention, lol). About half way through sophomore year she finally got some real hairsticks and stopped loosing her pencil in math class every day. Not to mention I only got hit by her hair once per class period.
Don’t feel like being glamorous? No time for a great do? Throw on one of these trendy hats and look HOT anyway!

Threading is ideal for removing facial hair. The hair removal process begins with a cotton thread that is wrapped around a row of hairs, then twisted and pulls out the hair from the root.
Threading is considered a very quick and painless form of hair removal.
Threading started in the Middle East and has just recently become a popular form of hair removal in America.

Pick a hair color that will compliment your skin tone and make it glow. There are two common skin tone types, warm and cool. If your skin has a bluish gray undertone and you don’t tan easily you most likely have a cool skin tone. If your skin has a peachy golden undertone and you do tan easily you most likely have a warm skin tone.
Tip: Never go more then a couple shades away from your natural color unless you’re able to keep up the hair color maintenance.
Blonde Hair:
Cool skin tones: Pick soothing shades of blonde, i.e. ash blonde, beige, and honey.
Warm skin tones: Pick rich shades of blonde, i.e. golden, bronze, and caramel.
Coloring your hair at home tips:
- If you are trying to go lighter then your natural hair color you need to be careful, if you leave the color in to long it may end up with an orangey tint.
- When looking at the color on the box pick shades that are subtle to get better results.
- Always use a blonde color protector shampoo and conditioner to lock in your color longer.
Brunette Hair:
Cool skin tones: Pick soothing shades of brunette; i.e. honey brown and ash brown
Warm skin tones: Pick rich shades of brunette, i.e. chestnut, and chocolate
Coloring your hair at home tips:
- When choosing a hair color, pick a color 1-2 shades lighter then what you want, your hair will tend to end up darker then the color on the box.
- The hair dye may be ready to wash out early. Depending on your hair’s porosity it may have colored quicker then the recommended time to leave in.
- Always use a brunette color protector shampoo and conditioner to keep your color bright and fresh.
Red Hair:
Cool skin tones: Pick soothing shades of red, i.e. burgundy and golden strawberry,
Warm skin tones: Pick rich shades of red, i.e. auburn and copper
Coloring your hair at home tips:
- Almost anyone can be a redhead, but be careful not to pick a color that is too harsh or drastic.
- While the hair dye is on your hair, check it regularly in the mirror, when it’s the color you want, let the color sit for a couple more minutes to get your ideal color.
- Red hair color fades the fastest. It is very important to use a shampoo and conditioner specifically designed to enhance and protect colored hair.
Unique Hair Colors:
Unique hair colors – shades of red, burgundy, and golden strawberry, Green, Purple, etc.
Unique hair color tips:
- If you want to use a permanent hair color consider what you do on a daily basis and make sure that it wont conflict with work, school, etc.
- A semi-permanent color is what you want to use if you are only wanting the color for an occasion.
- If you currently have dyed blonde hair and you want to try another color be careful, your hair is very porous.

Laser Hair Removal Basics

Laser hair removal is a permanent hair removal process. It is more costly and takes several treatments, usually between 4-6 treatments.
Treatments will be between 6-10 weeks apart from one another. Depending on the area you are getting lasered it can take anywhere from 15 – 60 min per area. Laser hair removal is a treatment that uses a constant heat source and light beam to target the hair follicle. As the laser goes over the skin the light is attracted to the dark root. The laser will penetrate the hair and kill it at the root.
Do not wax while getting laser treatments as the laser needs the hair to stay in it’s normal growth cycle to permanently get all the hairs, however you may shave in between your treatments.
You will first need to have a consultation with the doctor before you start your treatments. At the consultation they will go over with you how many treatments you will need and how much time in between treatments.
After your series of treatments you may need to go back for a touch-up once or twice. Ask your physician before you start your treatments if they offer free touch-ups after your series is over.
Since the laser is attracted to the dark root of the hair follicle you may not be a good client if you have dark/tanned skin or light hair, some lasers though are able to work with any skin type and hair color.

When you color treat your hair, you want to keep it looking like the day you got it done for weeks. To keep your hair color from fading, it just takes some simple steps to protect your hair and keep the color vibrant.
Here are a few tips to help you keep your hair color looking fresh:
1. Use a UV protector in your hair daily. The sun’s rays can make your hair color fade quickly.
2. When you shower, use a shampoo and conditioner designed to protect your hair color from fading.
3. Heat processes can also make your hair color fade faster. Using a product that protects your hair from the heat damage will keep your color fresh.
4. Chlorine can do strange things to hair color. It can make dark colors fade, blonde colors green, etc. To protect your colored hair from the chlorine, coat your hair in conditioner before you go swimming, and then shampoo and condition your hair quickly when you’re done swimming.
